3It's great, if it doesn't fall apart ...  Sep 22, 2009 By Robert Manning "The Old Professor"
I've owned two of these over the past six or so years. The first was a wonderful addition to my shop -- reliable, almost idiot-proof, sturdy? Well, I thought so until I noticed that a small steel strap, whose function is to hold the slider in place on the far end, had come loose. It's supposed to be screwed to the body of the piece, but the screw had come out and couldn't be found on my otherwise immaculate shop floor.

Rather than go to the trouble of packing it up and returning it (after six years!) I just bought another. It lasted about six weeks before the same thing happened again! Ever try to find replacement screws of this size? Solution -- make one good caliper from two bad ones. Soon, pieces of two $17 calipers rolled about my worktable like fire ants. They were enough different in detail (the new one had, evidently, been re-designed to avoid the problem) that the screws weren't ... well, that's enough. You get the point.

I thought, for a long time, that this might be, dollar for dollar, the most valuable piece of equipment in my shop. Now it's the most useless, and promises to stay that way.

But I'm not going to buy a third.

3Good for the Home.  Jan 07, 2011 By R. G. Williamson "Nostalgicon 67"
I wasn't expecting too much when I ordered this low priced caliper and "not too much" is what I got. It will certainly come in handy for getting approximate diameter measurements on such things as computer fans, pipe sizes and the usual items that are hard to measure with a standard ruler. As for being a professional precision instrument in an environment where exact measurement is needed, this particular brand of equipment is not your answer. The calibration doesn't hold for very long and the thumb slide is very stiff (maybe a little magic oil will help). Also feels a bit cheaply made but that was expected given the cost. This Caliper is fine for me because I only need approximations not precise I.D.'s and O.D's. So for the average DIYer this is a great tool to have handy and at a great price but don't expect to build the next rocket to Mars with it.

5Indespensible tool  May 28, 2009 By Jorge A. Aliaga "CASSK"
No doubts about it... this is by far one of the best buys here. Comperable with similar calipers twice the price. I use mine for ammo reloading and it hasn't fail me yet. Strongly recommended.

3You get what you pay for  Oct 03, 2010 By Rctyoung
It'll do but you get what you pay for. Not accurate using a 4" standard but Ok under an inch or two.

1Not worth the $  Aug 18, 2011 By cstylezwayz
I just ordered this and returned it the same day I received it. It was extremely cheaply made. When trying to resize (slide) the gauge, it wont slide or move. I had to push really hard on the wheel just to get the dial to move. Does not have a smooth sliding feeling. Would be hard to use when needing to make small adjustments.

When I first received it, there was rusty oil all over the top of the gauge. After wiping it off, I could see the rust and where it was starting to form.

WARNING!!! Do NOT waist your $$$$$

Spend a little more on a better one and stay away from this one!
