The tape is great. I've fixed numerous garden hose holes and splices,
and a threaded 1 inch galvanized pipe to PVC connection.
You do have to stretch it tight; and put enough layers to prvide mechical strength at the pressure point-2 wasn't enough, 5 layers worked every time.
If your garden hose has a slick surface, it helps to take the gloss off with a fine grit sandpaper.

I've used this type of tape in different brands for nearly two decades. It works where nothing else will and it doesn't leave a sticky residue when removed. It will hold household water pressure in hoses and pipes if you stretch it the full 3X and apply several layers. It only sticks to itself, so you can't use it to tape a note to the door.
My first roll many years ago was much thicker. But the 20 mil thickness seems to be the standard anymore and I haven't seen thicker silicone tape for years. F4 tape from Amazon is a good buy if you get enough stuff to get free shipping. Most brands come in much smaller rolls. I had no problem getting free shipping as I bought four rolls, one each for the car, truck, boat and house. It seems to be a little easier to start as it initially sticks to itself better, and I trust the quality of anything that meets Mil Specs. Brands I know I've used are X-Treme and Nashua plus several whose brands I can't recall. The F4 seems to grab a little better initially, but they have all served their purpose.
The blue stripe down the middle of the tape is handy for getting a sufficient and even overlap. I also often cut it in half and it makes a good guide. The " Triangular Guideline style tape designed for aviation use" statement in the Technical Details is misleading IMO. F4 makes a triangular silicone tape for aviation use, but this isn't it. Triangular aviation tape is thicker in the middle to give a flat finished product. The statement refers only to the blue line which triangular tape requires.

This stuff fuses really fast, almost instantly so be careful not to let it wrinkle or fold on itself, A pretty good value to at 36 FT. Most others are cheaper but only 12 FT.

This stuff is similar to what I used in the Air Force when working on F-4 Phantoms C/D/E/G models. It seems a little thinner than what I remember, and we used to get it in a small round tin back in the day. This comes in a plastic bag. I've used it on my boat, and works just like I remember. Never use electrical tape when you can use this stuff. The orange has a little higher temp rating, but both black and orange work the same.

The F4 tape is great! This is my second roll. Great for insulation and holding things together. Also great to use for tool handles and many other uses. I repaired the jumper cables for my 12 volt battery jumper pack as well as the clamps that were missing insulation due to wear and tear. Just remember to pull it tightly when wrapping it around things (the tighter the better) except for small wiring, where you can wrap it around without pulling it too tight. Amazon has a better deal than the miscelleanuous colored tape advertised on tv and the F4 tape is the real thing. Do not accept similar products as substitutes. Once you try this tape, you will very seldom use electrical tape. I have not used electrical tape since using this stuff.
