F-4 Tape Sep 11, 2010

This stuff is similar to what I used in the Air Force when working on F-4 Phantoms C/D/E/G models. It seems a little thinner than what I remember, and we used to get it in a small round tin back in the day. This comes in a plastic bag. I've used it on my boat, and works just like I remember. Never use electrical tape when you can use this stuff. The orange has a little higher temp rating, but both black and orange work the same.

Used this to patch up a leaking garden hose - it really works well. Be careful - it fuses very quickly so you have to be careful once you take the backing tape off not to let it get tangled.

I used it to fix a leaky hose on my SCUBA gear. Pretty incredible stuff. It does harden up a bit with time, but that's fine, because the bond gets stronger too. It still remains pliable.

I was a bit skeptical when I read about this, but ordered it anyway as I needed something to keep the elements out of electrical connections I was making ... ones that precluded the use of heat shrink tubing. I'm no longer a skeptic and will probably keep some of this around in the shop from now on. Good stuff at a good price.

I use this on my motorcycle wiring and it's great. Keeps all connections waterproof and tight. Wish I had this 20 years ago.
